Safety & Sexual Health When Meeting
Safety When Meeting

Your safety is your responsibility. While we encourage meeting new people, always use common sense and take precautions to protect yourself. We do not perform background checks and, while verified accounts may offer some reassurance, they do not guarantee safety.

When meeting someone for the first time, follow these golden rules:

  • Meet in a public place - Choose a cafe, bar, or another busy location.
  • Tell someone your plans - Let a friend know who, where, and when you're meeting.
  • Meet socially first - Get to know the person before taking things further.
  • Prioritize your health - Use protection and refer to our sexual health resources below.

What to avoid:

  • Don't share personal details - You home address, workplace, phone number etc.
  • Never go to a stranger's home - Meet them in a social situation until you get to know them better.
  • Don't rely on a stranger for transport - Always have your own transport to, and from, a meeting.
  • Avoid costly arrangements - Don't book hotels or travel long distances for someone you haven't met.
  • Stay sober - Avoid meeting if you, or the other person, is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Avoid meeting new/unverified accounts - These come with an inherent higher risks.
  • If in doubt, ask for ID - Ensure that the people you meet are who they say they are.
Sexual Health

Taking care of your sexual health is essential for both your well-being and that of your partners. STIs don't always have visible symptoms, so even if someone looks clean, it doesn't mean they are infection-free. The best way to protect yourself is through safe practices and regular testing.

Play safe, get educated & get tested:

  • Always use condoms - To reduce the risk of STIs.
  • Know the facts - About common infections like Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea.
  • Get tested regularly - Especially if you have multiple partners.

Final Thoughts

If anything feels off, trust your instincts and walk away. A genuine, respectful person will never pressure you into anything you're uncomfortable with. Your physical, and sexual, safety always comes first.
