Safety When Meeting

Your safety is your responsibility. While we encourage meeting new people, always use common sense and take precautions to protect yourself.

When meeting someone for the first time, follow these golden rules:

  • Meet in a public place - Choose a cafe, bar, or another busy location.
  • Tell someone your plans - Let a friend know who, where, and when you're meeting.
  • Meet socially first - Get to know the person before taking things further.
  • Prioritize your health - Always use protection for the safety of your health.

What to avoid:

  • Don't share personal details - You home address, workplace, phone number etc.
  • Never go to a stranger's home - Meet them in a social situation until you get to know them better.
  • Don't rely on a stranger for transport - Always have your own transport to, and from, a meeting.
  • Avoid costly arrangements - Don't book hotels or travel long distances for someone you haven't met.
  • Stay sober - Avoid meeting if you, or the other person, is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • If in doubt, ask for ID - Ensure that the people you meet are who they say they are.

If anything feels off, trust your instincts and walk away. A genuine, respectful person will never pressure you into anything you're uncomfortable with. Your safety always comes first.
